BCCI demands damages from WICB

The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] has issued a ultimatum to West Indies Cricket Board [WICB] demanding the damages it caused by the West Indies team which abandoned the Indian tour indefinitely last year. BCCI has sought USD 41.97 Million from the Caribbean cricket board and also threatened to take legal action, if the payment was not made in a given time.

BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel written to WICB president Dave Cameron and the inter-governmental Caribbean community (CARICOM) secretary-general Irwin LaRocque expressing the regret of BCCI as WICB failed to respond their first letter and gave a grace period of 40 days. Patel asked WICB to reply to the letter within 15 days from the receipt of that letter.

The Indian cricket body has cancelled all the bilateral series between Indian and West Indies. There are also doubts about WI players participation in the cash rich Indian Premier League.
