Glenn Maxwell wants to be dropped from IPL 2024:- Glenn Maxwell has revealed that he approached the RCB team management and requested to be left out of the IPL 2024 match against SRH on April 15. RCB made a few alterations to their XI and included Will Jacks, Lockie Ferguson, and Reece Topley as their overseas players, along with captain Faf du Plessis. Maxwell's performance had been disappointing, scoring only 32 runs from 6 matches with an average of 5.33 and a strike-rate of 94.11. He only reached double digits once, with a highest score of 28, and had 3 ducks in the ongoing T20 league. The Victorian cricketer acknowledged that it was time for RCB to explore other options in the middle order. Maxwell expressed the need for a mental and physical break, wanting to avoid repeating past mistakes and further complicating matters for himself. He approached Faf du Plessis and the coaches after the last game and shared his belief that it was time for someone else to be given a chance.

Maxwell expressed during the post-match press conference that it is now a suitable moment for him to take a break, both mentally and physically, in order to ensure his body is in optimal condition. He believes that if he is needed to play in future matches, he will be able to make a significant impact after rejuvenating his mind and body. Additionally, Maxwell acknowledged that his performance has not been up to par, particularly after the powerplay, an area where he has excelled in previous seasons. As a result, he feels it is necessary to give someone else an opportunity to showcase their abilities and potentially secure a permanent position in the team. Unfortunately, the changes made by RCB in their match against SRH did not yield positive results, resulting in a 25-run loss at home. Despite being given a challenging target of 288 runs, Bengaluru managed to score 262 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. du Plessis' team is currently at the lowest position in the table, having only earned 2 points and a negative net run rate of -1.185 after playing several matches.
