The US President Barack Obama has  nominated an Indian-American as the Federal Judge of the country. Srikanth Sri Srinivasan, who has become the judge of the country's second highest court, was born in Chandigarh. Srinivas played a pivotal role in legal field. In fact, in the year 2011, Srikanth became the principal deputy solicitor general of the United States.

In case if the name gets cofirmed for the nation's second biggest court, Srikanth Sri Srinivasan will become the third South Asian to become the federal judge. To serve on the same court, Obama nominated another person Caitlin Halligan.

In a press meet, Obama has said that Sri Srinivasan and Caitlin Halligan are dedicated public servants who would bring their tremendous experience, intellect and integrety to the US Court of Appeals.

Sri Srinivasan was brought up in Kansas. He completed Bachelor of Arts (honours) with a distinction from Stanford University in 1989. He received JD (jurisdoctor) with distinction in 1995 from Stanford Law School. He even served as the editor of Stanford Law Review. Along with his JD, he even received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Sri Srinivasan started his career as a law clerk for a judge.
