P V Narasimha Rao the 9th Prime Minister of India and 4th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh was born on 28th June 1921 in Vangara, Karimnagar District. He held many positions in the Government. He headed the Ministries of Home Affairs, External Affairs and Defense. PV made many economic reforms as Prime Minister of India. He handled all problems prevailing in the country and in the party with dexterity as Prime Minister. He was responsible to bring the present Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh to the center of Indian politics by making him the Finance Minister and during that time Indian economy improved.
P V was a multi talented personality. He was very fluent in many Indian and foreign languages in addition to his mother tongue Telugu. He was a writer. He translated the great work of Viswanadha Satyanarayana ‘Veyipadagalu’ in to Hindi as ‘Sahasraphan. He also translated Hari Narayan Apte’s Marathi work into Telugu. He wrote his autobiography ‘The Insider’ in which is wrote all his political experiences.
PV is the one who changed the name of the Congress party form Congress (Indira) to Indian National Congress to get the good will back to it from the original Congress Party that fought for the freedom of India from British Government and from which Indira Gandhi parted to form Cong (I). But unfortunately, as many complain, PV is not remembered by the Congress Party to the extent it should for his great services to the party and to the Nation. He did not get his full honors, as the politicians say, at the time of his death.
But PV stood as a great statesman and a scholar in the hearts of people of Andhra Pradesh.
