The ethnic clashes in Kokrajhar, Assam seem to be never ending as the death count has been rising since the day it had started. The death toll had risen to 78 after one individual was identified
to be killed on Friday night in Kokrajhar.

The victim was an owner of a pharmacy at Pandarchowa which falls in the jurisdiction of Salakati police station. The police said that there were a few bike-borne unidentified miscreants who had come around 7:30 in the night and fired at the owner.

The easily managed to escape on their bikes after which a manhunt had been launched to find and areest them. On Friday, the police had relaxed the curfew a little in the Rangiya sub-division since there were no acts of violence in the area.

After the curfew was relaxed in the village, a few shops and markets had resumed their businesses.

The security forces and the police were vigilantly monitoring areas of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Dhubri, Rangiya and Baksa districts.

Rubber bullets had been fired on Thursday in Tamulpur Police Station by the police since a mob had tried to break into the police station in Tamulpur, Baksa district trying to protest against the arrest of 65 people who were allegedly involved in arson of a car. The driver of the car is also no where to be seen since August 15.

NH 31 in Rangiya was blocked and a bus and a wooden bridge were set on fire.

Bajrang Dal has called for a 12-hour bandh Chirang, Baksa and Kamrup Rural district on Saturday, protesting against the violence in the state.
