Modi Arrives In Assam To Review Flood Situation:- Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi during his visit to the Assam on Tuesday, will review the damage caused by recent floods in the State.
The Prime Minister, who arrived at the Lokopriyo Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, was received by Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Modi from the airport flew by a helicopter to the Veterinary College Ground at Khanapara. The Prime Minister then drove to the nearby Assam Administrative Staff College where he is scheduled to hold three meetings, before returning to New Delhi in the afternoon. At the Staff College, the chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and senior state government officials, received Modi.
In the first meeting with the chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and senior state government officials, the prime minister would review the flood situation and infrastructural damage, official sources said.
The meeting of ruling BJP and its alliance partners– the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodo Peoples’ Front would be addresses by the Prime Minister. Modi would also hold a meeting with Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Assam.
On Monday, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that the prime minister’s visit was mainly aimed at finding a permanent solution to the flood problem in Assam.
