Assam Violence: toll rises after 4 more bodies discovered

After the government has managed to breathe a little with the relenting of the Assam Violence, the state has proved it wrong again. 4 more bodies have been discovered in Assam which indicate fresher acts of violence. The toll which previously stood at 73 has now risen to 77.

A male and a female belonging to the minor community were recovered in Kokrajhar district and two more were found in Baksa and Chirang district, the Assam IGP for law and order L R Bishnoi said. He also added that timely action had prevented further violence.

It is with the intelligence inputs that the attacks planned by the Muslim minorities and the Bodo communities that the attacks were prevented. Security forces could thwart the incendiaries that was planned in many villages in the interior.

Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Dhubri all had the curfew in effect. AICC general secretary Figvijay Singh is currently visiting the strife-torn areas of Kokrajhar. Strict measures are being enforced that no acts of violence would start again.
On the request from the Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, A CBI team would also be in the location conduct a probe.
