A coal mine blast in Meghalaya claims a life, 9 injured

A powerful bomb exploded at a labor camp on Thursday, in the early hours of the day, in the coal mining village of Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya. A young man was killed in the incident and 9 were injured.

According to the police, an the explosion occurred at Khliehriat subdivision of Rasong village at 2 AM in the morning. The explosion left a large crater that is one foot deep at the site of blast.

Mintu Das who belonged to Assam was killed on the spot while 9 others who were injured were shifted to the hospital. Their condition was critical.
Police also suspect the involvement of militants or mine owners in the explosion. They said a formal investigation would be conducted to uncover the truth regarding the explosions.
