Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vasant Dhoble the Mumbai's moral cop had made it to the headlines several times after he had vracked down up on pubs and bars in the city busting out the immoral activities. He had been transferred to the social service branch of Mumbai police after his valiants efforts to put a check on the bars dealing in trafficking and prostitution.
With the new transfer Dhoble would be the ACP at the Vakola suburbs to the west of the city. The transfer was in effect since yesterday night after the orders from the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra.
The ACP was famous with several pub and restaurant raids which often took advantage of the police's leniencey and went beyond the permissible restrictions. He often barged into such premises with a camera, hockey stick, a few patrons and staff who assisted him in carrying out his task effectively.
Though he was out for a moral cause, the citizens and media had criticized him for his extremely disciplinarian actions, earning him the nickname Hitler. They contended that he was curtailing the night life of the city; a proud part of Mumbai life. He was highly acclaimed by the residents who lived in the proximity of the bars and were vexed with the antics of the drunken teens at late nights.
The chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, addressing a tourism event, had assured that the city will get its night life back. He had also been dragged to court after making false allegations on two women who claimed that they had been defamed. The Bombay high court had, however, refused to pass any directions against the police.
