Indian intelligence agencies had to abort a covert operation they had planned to bring out underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, said former Union home secretary RK Singh.
National security advisor A K Doval, the head of intelligence Bureau, during the Vajpayee government, prepared a plan, using the members of Chhota Rajan, who is believed to be rival underworld gang, to attack Dawood, during his travel to Dubai in 2005, for his daughter’s wedding.
But Rajan’s gang members Vicky Malhotra and Fareed Tanasha are stopped and arrested by Mumbai police in Delhi. The duo then travelled to Delhi to work out the details of the plan.
The claim has proved that Dawood had links with Mumbai police and in fact, this is one of the backup, for him to be the Mumbai underworld don.
Even the timing makes the claim significant as it comes at a time when the evidence has emerged that Doval's interest in the leader of the notorious crime syndicate may not have waned even after a decade he spent outside the government following his superannuation.
Recently, the Indian agencies brought out, the reportedly recent photograph of Dawood Ibrahim and telephone bill on his wife’s name and said that, Pakistani officials are sheltering Dawood since years. With this move, Indian agencies efficiency in work against Dawood can be found out.
The documents which Doyal had planned to submit Sartaj Aziz, the Pakistani official, had the latter not cried off from his engagement in Delhi, included the will that Dawood has prepared, bequeathing his property to his wife, as well as the precise coordinates of the house, Dawood bought next to Karachi hospital.
However, the enquiry on Dawood Ibrahim seems increasing day by day. If the same enthusiasm continues, the underworld don would find a tough time to hide for long time.
