Gopal Kanda had failed to appear before the police station after an interrogation was scheduled by the Delhi police according to which he should have shown up before Wednesday evening. At least six teams of police are now hunting for the absconding Haryana Minister who was allegedly abetting the suicide of his now defunct MDLR airlines ex-employee Geethika Sharma. Police have already raided his home and also a school in Sisra that is owned by his family. Another team of the police forces had also paid a visit to his farm house.
According to the police, Kanda had been absconding but that didn't stop his lawyers from filing for an anticipatory bail. They had also asked the police to postpone the interrogation by three days to review more documents that were relevant to the case but were rejected.
Geetika Sharma who initially worked with Kanda's airlines had committed a suicide on the weekend and had mentioned the Haryana minister and another senior executive Aruna Chadha in her suicide note following which he had been charged with abetting the suicide and criminal intimidation. The senior executive was also arrested on Wednesday.
Her family had alleged that the minister subjected their daughter to mental tension which she could not bear and committed a suicide.
