Haryana ministers remarks on Nehru

Two Haryana state ministers sparked controversies for making derogatory statements against India's first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. First it was Education minister Rambilas Sharma while inaugurating the “Phagun Mela” in Rohtak made objectionable comments on the Nehru. However, it later apologised and added that it was slip of tongue that led him to do. Mr. Sharma said he has not disrespect towards Nehru. But the controversy did not end here in fact, it grew as another minister added fuel to the fire.

Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij said, “Nehru is not a good man. Still the minister should not have used such words against him.” The Congress was prompt enough to attack the ministers who made the remarks and also demanded resignation of the ministers. The staged protests and burned the effigies of both the ministers. “Nehru is not just first prime minister of the nation. He is a great freedom fighter. It is an insult to all those freedom fighters who fought for the independence of the country,” said a leader.

“Congress has accused that BJP government is implementing the right-wing strategy of humiliating the national icons who fought for the country. For sure they would face the heat of public in coming days,” added one more leader.
