BASF voted number one chemical company in Transparency

BASF is now rated the most transparent company in the chemical companies according to a ranking given by a non-governmental organisation. It also stated that it is the number one industry based in Germany among any industry.

Transparency in Corporate Reporting was given a score of 105 among the best of the publicly-traded companies and the score was given on the basis of their public commitment to transparency. The overall company scores were awarded depending up on the public availability of information about anti-corruption systems, transparency in reporting on their functional organization, and details they provide to other countries regarding the financial information.

"This type of reporting indicates the immediate need for betterment of corporate transparency as this aids in the restoration of the trust of public. Though there is no mandatory legal requirement, many Asian countries including India are uptaking this trend” BASF India chairman and head (South Asia) Prasad Chandran said.

BASF India has been publishing an integrated report since 2009. BASF in India Report 2011 has collected and stored the data related to the development, progress and performance of the company's activities in India in the fields of economy, ecology and society.

Chandran added that this kind of triple bottom line reporting would help establish benchmarks in proper governing and helps encourage a transparent communication in the communities that they have a market in.

He mentioned the social project started by BASF, Million Minds, which aims to expose the Indian citizens to the effects of corruption in the country and it encourages them in fighting the evil. Other social projects that are aimed at improving the standards of governance are also efficiently achieving the same success.
