The name of West Bengal has been changed to Paschim Banga. The West Bengal Government and the opposition parties met in Kolkata today and took a decision unanimously to this effect.
Industries Minister, Mr. Partha Chatterjee announced that all political parties have unanimously agreed to the suggestion of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that the name be changed to Paschim Banga.
“From now on, one shall call it Paschim Banga,” said the minister in a media conference. “We have agreed with the suggestion to change the name,” said the opposition leader, Mr Surya Kanta Mishra of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
