Aman Kachroo had made repeated complaints to his parents regarding ragging committed mostly by his seniors in an inebriated state. He had also reported the matter to college authorities several times. Kachroo's four seniors -- Ajay Verma, Naveen Verma, Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma, all the students of Rajendra Prasad Medical College were sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment. They were found guilty under Sections 304-II, 341 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The judge did not entertain the prosecution plea for convicting the four students of murder under Section 302 IPC for which the punishment is life term or death.

Unsatisfied by the justice dawned on him Rajendra decided to take the battle to newer heights. Rajendra Kuchroo says since his son’s occurrence he has seen other than 30 reported suicides allegedly linked to ragging.
