Life imprisonment for ragging students - Ganta

The AP government is going to implement strict and serious punishments like life imprisonment and life term ban, for the students who are involved in ragging.

After Rishiteshwari case, though the Andhra Pradesh government is silent on the issue for various reasons, it got alerted now and is taking all possible strict steps to eradicate ragging. Here are a few of such steps taken by the AP government.    

Ragging awareness programmes in all the universities

In all the 13 districts of AP, the Ragging awareness programmes will be conducted. District Collector, Police Commissioner, SP, DCP, ACP, Student organizations, Vice Chancellors, Principals, Private School managements would take part and explain about the action plan, the AP government is going to take on the students, who commit ragging in the educational institutions.

Life term ban from education if committed ragging

Students who are found committing ragging in the educational institutions will completely be banned from pursuing the education. Along with providing him/her the transfer certificate on the spot, the AP government will take all the steps, to make sure that, they could not pursue their further education elsewhere. Along with this, they will also be awarded the life imprisonment and will be ordered to pay huge amounts of penalty.
      

Affiliation gets cancelled, if institute encourages ragging

Not only on the students, even the college or any type of educational institution’s affiliation and recognition will be cancelled, if the institutions are found to be encouraging ragging and also if any ragging cases are recorded in any college.   

CCTV cameras in every educational Institution to avoid ragging.

Installation of Biometric and CCTV cameras at every corner of the educational institution, will take place, so that ragging can be controlled.

Progress of Rishiteshwari case

Along with explaining the above procedures, educational minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao also said that, “Balasubramanyam committee formed for inquiring the Rishiteshwari case, will have to complete the inquiry by August 10th. I even said to inquire the students of the college.”

Hope at least, these new procedures will help to completely eradicate the ragging in the state.
