After the sudden demise of Jayalalithaa, VK Sasikala took the oath as AIADMKās General Secretary and at the right time when she was about to turn Chief Minister, the Supreme Court of India announced that she has been convicted in the disproportionate assets case in 1996. She has been awarded imprisonment for four years after which Sasikala surrendered in Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru. She pledged for special treatment with the privileges of home cooked food, television, non-vegeterian along with a maid and an air-conditioner.
She has been rejected the facilities and Sasikala has been asked to stay like other prisoners. The latest update from the jail says that she has not been given any special treatment except television. She has been provided pillow, blanket and fan along with other prisoners and three white sarees. Sasikala has been asked to make candles along with agarbathis and is paid Rs 50 on daily basis.
