Sasikala Pays Rs 10 Cr Fine: To Be Released Soon:- Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her close aide VK Sasikala have been facing allegations in the disproportionate assets case. After Jayalalithaa passed away, Sasikala was arrested and took the jail term in the case. VK Sasikala now paid a fine of Rs 10 crores to the court in the disproportionate assets case and is expected to be out from the prison soon. Her lawyer informed the news and the fine amount was deposited in the court through demand drafts recently. The court will now inform the prison authorities about the payment of the fine soon and Sasikala's lawyer says that she may be released on January 27th 2021.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami recently announced that Sasikala and her family members will not be allowed into the operations of the AIADMK party or the ruling government of Tamil Nadu. Palaniswami said that the entire party is strict on the same stand. Sasikala along with her two relatives is residing in the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. The Supreme Court restored the case in 2017 and Sasikala was serving the sentence from that time. Jayalalithaa and Sasikala are convicted by the trial court in 2014, eighteen years after the disproportionate assets case was filed against Jayalalithaa.
