Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena [MNS] faced a humiliating defeat in the Assembly elections. The party managed to win just one seat from the 288 Maharashtra Assembly down from its 2009 tally of 13. The vote share of MNS is just 3.1 per cent which is lower than 2009.
Surprisingly, all the sitting MLAs of MNS lost the elections by massive margin including Thackeray’s closest aides which is a big shock to the party. Did Raj Thackeray lose his charm or people are ignoring MNS, is something the political analysts are discussing now.
Well there are few reasons. Raj Thackeray is over confident that people of Maharashtra are behind him and will make him chief minister of the state one day. The second thing is to get separate from the Thackeray clan and third is, changing the track and criticising Modi and BJP in the election campaign. Raj Thackeray has pitched his voice on Modi to become the prime minister of the country and all of a sudden he changed his track and started slamming Modi at every venue.
This change of tactics were understood by people and so they reject MNS. Most of the senior leaders are not available to comment on the party defeat while Raj Thackeray too avoided media. It is time to introspect and focus on public issues.
