Aam Aadmi Party [AAP] Maharashtra unit has decided to stay away from the Maharashtra Assembly elections slated next month but the party won't rest. According to the party sources, AAP will campaign against corrupt candidates all over the state especially in Mumbai city to ensure people will vote for the clean and honest candidates.
The party will act as a watchdog and plans to expose corrupt candidates as well as run a campaign against electoral malpractices. AAP called this campaign ‘Jagrut Nagrik.’ After the humiliating performance in the Lok Sabha elections this May, AAP has decided to stay away from the poll battle and also not to support any party or person.
AAP will also work against the distribution of money, alcohol and other bribes that are paid to the voters during the elections. The Spokesperson of AAP said, even though we are not contesting the elections, we will campaign holding public meetings, street plays and educate people to vote for clean persons and who are more interested in serving people.
The idea of AAP is good but what is it trying to achieve by staying away from elections ?
