Does Jaipal Reddy mean `No Telangana’?

The Union Minister for Petroleum S Jaipal Reddy looks like mentioning `No Telangana’ bill at the Parliament current session. Being a man from the region this statement has raked in quite an amount of irk from fellow politicians from the region. Predominantly critics have blamed the Minister for being silent on the issue, even when others were bitterly cursing for a separate state.

The Minister was speaking to journalists at Rajahmundy in East Godavari District on Sunday, revealed his comments on the issue. He also added that since the Centre was studying the issue it was not proper for him to make speculative comments.  He also proposed a discussion about Telangana issue with all concerned. The whole concept adds value as the Union Minister speaks this in Andhra Region.

His neutral stance is significant when the Congress is gearing up to face by-elections in six Assembly constituencies, including three in his home district of Mahaboobnagar, in the region.

But it may be noted that before the T-stir was at its peak the minister is remembered to have quoted that he was instrumental in the carving of the new state. But the position changing and intensities keeping low may have made the Minister to comment. But there are wide disapprovals from other politicians from the region.

So what does one get from the statements made by the Minister is left to the readers’ discretion to assess. Please post your comments on the issue.  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
