Home Ministry says Mamatha best against Maoists

Mamatha Banarjee, the chief minister of West Bengal was declared the better administrator against Maoists compared to the rest of the chief ministers of the states with the Maoist issues according to a data compilation performed by the Home Ministry. Under the government of Prithviraj Chavan, Maharashtra was considered the worst managed in the same.

According to the data compiled, the Maoist-related killings have been zero in at least three districts which were affected by Maoists, West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura. The data had facts that were collected until August 15. West Midnapore in 2009-2011 was one of the worst Maoist-affected district in the nation registering at least 453 killings and 636 attacks.

There were only 5 bouts of Maoist attacks in West Midnapore this year while the other two had no incidents of maoists. In contrast, the two Maoist-affected districts of Maharashtra - Gadchiroli and Gondia - there were more incidents and killings registered. The Gadchiroli district has witnessed 35 killings and 74 incidents until August 15. The trend of the figures from Gadchiroli suggests that the situation is not getting any better if not worse with the previous year figures standing at103 incidents and 53 killings.
