After claims that the neighboring country, Pakistan had incited the Assam violence and riots by spreading rumors from the social networking sites trying to divide the country on communal lines, it was found that the allegations have missed finer details. There were over 20% of the pages of the blocked one which were uploaded by right-wing Hindu fundamentalists who intended to galvanize the community after provoking the sensitive issues of the nation.
These posts had several morphed images and sensitive videos which had depicted the alleged atrocities by the Muslim community against the Assam's Bodo tribes. There were several captions that aroused the communal feelings. These acts clearly indicate that the Hindu groups are obviously trying to fish in troubled waters targeting the minorities while inciting riots.
The cyber crime division officials who had scanned the internet for such unlawful content on the internet had said that there were also several pictures and videos portraying Tibetans who indulged in self-immolation after the Chinese occupied Tibet.
"Several images had been cropped in a way to obliterate the background that could have revealed the actual context of the pictures," said an official.
There were also numerous clues which showed that many SMS which had spread the rumors like wild fire among the northeast Indian brothers were also the works of several fringe Hindu groups. The panic attacks had resulted in mass exodus from several cities such as Pune, Chennai and Bangalore to Assam and neighboring states.
