Youth rapes minor, sentenced to jail for seven years

A 20 year old youngster who had been declared guilty by the Delhi Court last year after issuing a fine of Rs 3000 had been sentenced to Jail today for a term of seven years for raping a minor girl. He also had one of his friends, a minor, record the whole incident on a mobile phone.

The Juvenile Justice Board would take care of the hearings of the friend of the accused, after he was found to be guilty of recording the incident.

Additional Sessions Judge had confirmed that Vikram was guilty of the rape considering the testimony of the 15 year old girl who was the victim and forensic evidence later which had confirmed the offense.

"The comprehensive reading of her (victim's) testimony would show that she has been consistent in her evidence about being raped by the accused. Her testimony is fully corroborated by the mobile clipping and by report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, the genuineness of which has not been challenged by the accused (Vikram)," the ASJ said.

On the 21st of July last year, the victim had registered an FIR with the police after the incident. The victim had gone to her paternal uncle's house at Bapu Dham but he had met with Vikram and his aide who were both drunk. Vikram had taken the girl to a vacant house nearby and raped her according to the prosecution. It also argued that Vikram's friend had recorded the incidents on mobile phone and threatened that if she revealed the incident to anyone, he would kill her and her mother.
