Today, on the account of Eid, a high alert had been announced all over Assam while the security has been taken to the next level in most parts of the state. The sensitive districts like Kokrajhar, Dubri, and Chirang have a higher security than most other places at it was these districts that were the center stage for the ethnic clashes between the Muslim communities and the Bodo tribal groups since the beginning of the month.
The exact reason for the ethnic clashes that had broken out suddenly is unknown yet but the government is trying to prevent any similar occurrence again with the extreme security measures as there are isolated events of violence over the past week. The death toll of this brutal clashes has reached over 78 while over 2.5 lakh people have been displaced from their respective homes.
On Ramzan, Eid ul Fitr, over 100 teams of the security forces have been stationed in the sensitive zones of Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts, which have a higher number of Muslims.
The officials have also requested the Muslims to pray at the relief camps that they are already residing in or at the nearest Idgah.
The Khudba speeches that follow the namaz by the religious higher officials and the Imams would be monitored by police forces. .
Eight companies of additional forces have been deployed between Srirampur near the Assam-Bangladesh border and Guwahati.
Recently Bangalore had seen a mass exodus after which several lakh North East Indians have left the city in the last few days after a few bulk SMS which have threatened them to leave the cities. In the city 17,000 policemen, 3 Rapid Action Force platoons and 3 CRPF companies have taken their positions to ensure that no mishap spoils the festive mood.
