The tragic death of a teenaged, just 13 years, had set the moods in Burnpur to a new low after she set herself on fire. She took the decision after a few local youth had allegedly sexually harassed the deceased and humiliated the girl.

The incident took place in Burnpur village near Asansol in Burdwan, West Bengal while the girl was going to the school. A few young miscreants had sexually harassed her on the way. The local people had compelled her father and herself to be present at the reconciliation meetings along with the accused on August 10 and 11 after which they lodged a police complaint.

The victim of the abuse felt humiliated in the reconciliation meeting after which she set herself on fire on Monday dousing herself in Kerosene.
She was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition but had passed away on Tuesday morning due to the injuries.

Following the FIR at the local police station, six of the accused were arrested by the police.
