India to Bangakok via Myanmar-by road

Have you ever thought as to how would it be if we have an option to drive down to another country? Many people, especially those who enjoy long drives, might have probably thought about it many a time. And in just a couple of years, the dreams of driving down to another country would turn to reality as India and Myanmar came to an agreement that there would be a bus service between these both countries and it would come into effect from 2006.

The prime minister of India Manmohan Singh and President of Myanmar Thein Sein have set a deadline for trilateral road connectivity that would be possible to drive down to Thailand via Myanmar. The foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai announced that the efforts would be made to establish trilateral connectivity by 2016.

According to the agreement, India would undertake the upgradation of Kalewa-Yargyi road to highway standards while Myanmar would undertake the upgradtion of Yargyi-Monywa.  Meanwhile, officials have expressed their happiness over the trilateral connectivity and said that the highway would become a bridge between India and other Asean countries.
