On the Jayanthi of his great-grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru, congress general secretary Mr Rahul Gandhi today launched his campaign for the 2012 UP assembly elections by addressing a rally in Phulpur from where Nehru was first elected to the Lok Sabha.
Blowing the campaign bugle, Rahul attacked the chief minister Mayawathi citing the atrocities carried out on the agitating farmers of Bhatta Parsaul a few months ago. He accused her of misusing the central funds and not showing interest in developmental activities.
“Who is responsible for the killing of farmers and their land being taken away in Bhatta Parsaul?” he asked, adding that women in the state have not been enjoying any protection.
He accused her of misusing the central funds for making calendars and post cards and there by increasing unemployment in the state. Rahul Gandhi talked of change and urged the people to welcome the winds of change blowing across the state.
