Even as his indefinite fast entered the 8th day today, anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare stuck to his deadline of August 30 for getting the Jan Lok Pal Bill passed by the Parliament and called on his supporters to lay siege to the houses of parliamentarians after the deadline.
“I have capacity to fast for another seven days and kindly don’t worry about me. If a person dies for society, he would permanently live in the minds of the people and I am ready to die for the country,” he said addressing his supporters after a gap of 40 hours.
The 73-year old Gandhian said that some five or six people who are running this country have betrayed the civil society. “What will happen to the country even after the Jan Lok Pal Bill is passed if the five or six people continue to rule the country as per their whims and fancies?” he asked.
Arvind Kejriwal, a close aid of the Gandhian, said their team was waiting for a political dialogue with Government. “Instead of asking us to go and make our case to the Standing Committee, the government should come for a political dialogue,” he said observing that no proposal has so far come from the government for talks.
