MI Win Pull Off A Stunning One Run Win To Emerge Champions:- A sensational win and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 crown has been registered by the Mumbai Indians with an absolutely unbelievable one-run win over the Rising Pune Supergaint (RPS) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, yesterday.
When the RPS lost skipper Steve Smith and Manoj Tiwary in the last over, by Mitchell Johnson, they were desperately unlucky, as they finished at 128/6. Krunal Pandya of the MI scored precious 47 runs in just 38 balls. An incredible control to wrest an improbable win was shown by the MI fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga, to give MI their first win over RPS in IPL 10 and overall their third IPL title.
Mumbai Indians Edge In One-Run Thriller To Win Third IPL Title
Steven Smith of the Rising Pune Super giants finished with 51, whereas Ajinkya Rahane got 44. The rest of the batting could not get past the bowlers, Johnson who took three wickets in just 26 runs, and Jasprit Bumrah, who took two wickets in 26 runs and Malinga.
MI’s leg spinner, Karn Sharma ended with a fine spell of four overs for just 18 runs. The slide started when the RPS decided to send MS Dhoni ahead of the in-form Tiwary. Smith was left to try and speed up the run-rate and things did not get any better when Dhoni edged the impressive Bumrah to Parthiv Patel.
The Mumbai innings, earlier, got off to the possible worst start with Jaydev Unadkat removing both Parthiv Patel and Lendl Simmons in double-quick time. After Krunal Pandya adopted long-handle tactics, the MI got anything to bowl at, since none of the other batsmen really had an answer to the RPS plans.
Pandya who scored 47 runs in just 38 balls, was just the thing the MI needed, though the total sum was way less than what MI and captain Rohit Sharma would have hoped for.
