How frequent do you eat in a day? How much intake has increased in a day? These questions help yourselves understand whether you have been addicted to food or not. A food addict will have gradually increased their intake over time.
We call it addiction when you can intake large amount of food and calories in to you than you usually can and still can hardly feel any negative. To give you an example, an alcoholic is said to be addicted when he/she can hardly feel any impact on themselves even after having 10 to 12 beers. In the same way, if a person can intake much more than what he usually can intake and is not facing any negative impacts then he/she is said to be addicted to food.
Another sign of addiction is that the addict will spend more and more time obtaining and using the substance, to the point of spending less time in usual activities including social, work and recreational activities. Their world gradually becomes more and more consumed by the addiction.
The major symptoms we notice to say one is addicted to food:
When one ends up eating more than planned when you start eating certain foods
If you are eating certain foods even if you're no longer hungry
If you are worried about not eating certain types of foods or worried about cutting down on certain types of foods
