In a shocker, an NRI allegedly murdered his wife for insurance money. The police, who arrested the 41-year-old accused Vijay Swan, told that the accused murdered his wife two months ago in Kapurthala district. The police also produced Vijay before the Magistrate who remanded him to 14 days judicial custody. The police sources have said that Vijay married Sita in 2001 and they were happily settled in the United States.

The sources have also said that the couple had come to India in March. Sita was given poison by her husband by mixing it in her food. After eating the poisoned food, Sita started vomiting and died before she was rushed to a hospital.  Meanwhile, Sita’s mother Chanan Kaur has alleged that Vijay purportedly killed her daughter only to claim Rs. 14 crore. It may be noted that Sita was the nominee of the insurance.
