Farmer Protests: Nationwide Fast Today:- The farmers are protesting against the introduced farm laws by the Centre. A series of meetings were held between the Indian government and the Farmer Unions. The talks turned unsuccessful. The farmers across the country are fasting across the country today. A day-long fast along with dharnas are organized at the district headquarters all over India. The farmers are not satisfied with the offer and the amendments proposed by the government. Farmers marched towards the Delhi border and they are protesting from the past 19 days. Some of the roads heading to Delhi are shut and the Delhi-Jaipur highway is partially shut.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a series of meetings with the Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and other BJP leaders of Punjab. The farmers want the three introduced farm laws to be withdrawn. The Centre is keen to meet the Farmer Unions and discuss about the amendments. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that the farm laws will not be withdrawn as they would benefit the farmers bigtime. Centre will send a fresh proposal in the next couple of days as the protests turned bigger and bigger.

All the farmer unions and some of the farmers started their fast at 8 AM and it will continue till evening 5 PM. The Centre said that the doors are always open for the farmers to initiate talks and resolve the issue. Thousands of farmers are protesting in the chilling nights from the past 19 days. The opposition parties across the country extended their support for the farmers.
