Central Government Proposed To Sell Vizag Steel Plant Properties:- Even after huge protests from the public, the central government taking action to privatise the Vizag steel plant. Every party in Andhra Pradesh including YSRCP and TDP are against privatisation and is against selling the steel plant properties.
TDP MLA Ganta Srinivas Rao, who hails from the Vizag region has sent his resignation letter to the assembly speaker as a protest against Steel plant privatisation. He stood in support of VSP employees' protests. YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has written a letter to Narendra Modi and requested to protect the Vizag steel plant. He also provided three alternative methods to protect the steel plant from privatisation. 32 members from VSP have sacrificed their lives for the steel plant.
Even after all the struggle from the Andhra region public, the Central government despite holding talks with the employees or the state government proposed to sell houses over 25 acres of land in the steel plant area. 588 houses, which are located in H B Colony over a spread of 22.9 acres and 84 individual houses, where 76 houses are in Autonagar in 2 acres spread and 8 other houses are in Pedagantyada area in 434.75 yards spread were included in the plan.
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has sent the information of sale to Powergrid Corporation of India. senior trade union leader Varsala Srinivasa Rao has opposed the sale. Powergrid has 10 days time to respond to the issue.
