Telangana Government Takes 50% of Beds in Private Hospitals:- There are a lot of complaints about the exorbitant medical bills in private hospitals in Telangana during the coronavirus pandemic season. The government of Telangana announced that they would take the control of 50% beds in the private hospitals in the state. The Telangana Health Department will control these beds and will take the call on the admissions. The Telangana Health Department will finalize the prices and charges for the beds and the patients too will be chosen by the government. Telangana Health Minister Etala Rajendar met the representatives of Telangana Super-Speciality Hospitals Association yesterday in his office after which the decision was made. Telangana senior health officials attended the meeting.

A few days ago, Etala Rajendar already said that the government would not hesitate to take over the 50% of the coronavirus beds in the private hospitals. The final agreement will be made soon between the private hospitals and the government. The private hospitals agreed for 30% of the beds. The Telangana High Court directed the government to consider the Delhi model by taking hold of over 50% of the beds from the private hospitals after which the meetings are initiated. The High Court asked to reserve at least 20% of the beds for the poor patients and offer treatment for free. The Telangana High Court directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to submit a report on this. Somesh Kumar appeared before the High Court through a video conference.
