Regarding Andhra Pradesh, it seems, finance minister Arun Jaitley has put special concentration on Tirupathi, in the Union budget 2016, announced today.
While the Andhra Pradesh government sought 4000 crores for its long lagging project Polavaram, Arun Jaitley announced only Rs. 100 crores for it. Here are the other allocations AP state was awarded in the Union budget 2016-17
Tirupathi IIT- Rs. 40 crores
Tirupathi IISCR- Rs. 40 crores
Tadepalli gudem NIT- Rs. 40 crores
Vijayawada metro- Rs. 100 crores
Visakha IIM- Rs. 30 crores
IIIT in AP- Rs. 30 crores
Tribal university in AP- Rs.1 crore
After the budget announcement, keeping other states aside, Andhra Pradesh government, who expected it to be big, was disappointed severely.
After the bifurcation of the Telugu states, the Centre assured to keep up all the promises it made and it specially mentioned to implement the issues specified in the AP reorganization act. But now allotting just Rs. 100 crores to a huge project like Polavaram is really a tight jolt to AP.
Moreover, special status is almost considered as out of the question issue, but on the worst case, the budget even maintained mum on special packages to AP. It is to be seen, how AP CM Chandrababu Naidu manages to come out of it.
