Union budget 2016: IT slabs remain unchanged

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has completed presenting union budget for the next fiscal in the Lok Sabha today, amid concerns over stagnating growth, the state of government finances and stuttering pace of reforms.

Jaitley started on a note, “I am presenting the budget when the global economy is in crisis,” adding that India, however, remained in the safe zone, turning difficulties into opportunities.

Here are the few key points in the Union Budget 2016

1. No change in the income tax slabs

2. Ceiling of rebate for tax payers with Rs 500,000Â annual income to be raised to Rs 5000 from Rs 2000, currently.

3. FDI 100% in marketing India made food products

4. The deduction limit on rent raised to Rs 60,000

5. Rs 3000 tax relief for small tax payers.

6. Stand Up India scheme allocated Rs.500 crore for SCs, STs women entrepreneurs.

7. Provident fund of 8.33 per cent for new government employees for first 3 years.

8. 4 per cent cess on SUVs.

9. Rs 1 lakh countrywide health cover and 2000 medicine shops to control medicine prices.

10. 100% exemption to the startups for the first three years.

Following the similar footsteps of the railway budget, which put the customer on the first class, even the union budget 2016 has no big complaints, thus making it a favorite one for the common public.
