Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari has clarified that he is not in race for the chief minister post of Maharashtra and is happy to be in Delhi. Gadkari had the backing of 39 MLAs from Vidarbha and his name was waving all over the BJP circles post the results. However, other group within the party are against this and started pitching Devendra Fadnavis's name. The high command which ensures there are no clashes in party, stepped into action and pacified both the groups.
Gadkari reportedly informed PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah that he is quite happy in Delhi. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and general secretary are set to arrive Mumbai later today and meet all the newly elected legislators to select the CM candidate. According to the high placed sources, with Nitin Gadkari moving out, Devendra Fadnavis is likely to be the ideal choice. PM Modi and Amit Shah are also in favor of Fadnavis.
Over the past three terms, never a CM ruled Maharashtra for five years and let's how BJP will manage.
