Experts Committe for Bodoland demand

The central government has constituted an expert committee to study and examine the demand for a separate state of Bodoland. Former home secretary G K Pillai will lead this panel of experts and the government has given nine months time for the task.

The Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mihilary  welcomed the central Government's decision to constitute an expert committee. Mihilary said, “if Telangana is created then why not Bodoland. The demand has been in consideration since many years, it is just that the government is overlooking our demand every time. But now we welcome the decision to appoint a committee. We will use this chance and share our views with the Pillai committte.”

For the past 46 years to crave Bodoland from Assam has been in pending and with the creation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh, the Bodoland agitations got intensified.
