The union home minister Chidambaram has broke his silence on Telangana issue after quite sometime. He has made it clear that the Centre cannot take any decision on Telangana as long as the political parties in the state don’t come to consensus on the issue. The Centre won’t force the implementation of its decision on the state, said Chidambaram.
Also, the home minister has said that the Centre will not blame the political parties in the state in case they take extra time to decide or come to a consensus on bifurcation issue. He made these statements in the wake of the ongoing protests by the Congress MPs from Telangana region besides their talks with Vayalar Ravi and Gulam Nabi Azad-who have been looking into AP affairs-last night.
Further, Chidambaram has said that not just he but any home minister for that matter cannot give a clarity on this issue. He has also said that the announcement made on December 9 was done only after all parties in the state came to a consensus in the state. However, the things altered and all political parties in the state were divided on the issue within 24 hours of announcement on Telangana, he added.
Now that the Centre has come out with a crystal clear statement, the Congress MPs have only one option of pressing their high command-Congress party on its stand on issue. (Phani)
