The Telugu Desam Party not giving party’s membership to the former TDP senior leader and ex minister, Umareddy  Venkateshwarlu has stirred up a new controversy in the state. A few TDP leaders are not expressing their displeasure for denying Umareddy Venkateshwarlu’s entry into the party.  The sources have said that Umareddy is going to join YSR Congress party soon and contest the elections.

Uma Reddy’s first entry into TDP dates back to 1984. He became a legislator, a parliamentarian and even a central minister besides working as TDP polit bureau member for 19 years. He has been keeping himself away from politics for quite sometime in the wake of current political situation.

TDP, which promised Rajya Sabha seat and later MLC seat, failed to stick to its promise that left Umareddy Venkateshwarlu disappointed and disgusted to the core. Umareddy, who has that extra political charisma to attract large number of people with his powerful speeches, was ignored to give membership by the party members.
Although the party defends that it was accidental, several leaders were of the opinion that not giving party ticket to Umareddy was intentional. Even after Umareddy bringing it to the notice of the high command over not giving party membership to him, there has been no response from TDP high command.

Ignoring the kapu community:

Allegations are in the air that TDP has been constantly ignoring kapu community for quite sometime. The party apparently completely forgot the welfare of this community that has over 15,000 voters in every constituency.  It was probably due to the same reason that Vijayawada leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna left TDP and joined YSR Congress party.

Will TDP now at least concentrates on the welfare of the kapu community at least for the sake of votes is really a rhetorical question. (Phani)
