As the contents of the affidavit given to the CBI by Mr Konda reddy, son of former congress MLA Mr Varadarajulu reddy, against the YSR Congress chief Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy in the illegal mining case, are being leaked to the media, the role of an IAS officer Mr MGVK Bhanu in the entire episode has come to the fore afresh.
Konda reddy reportedly explained in his affidavit that Bhanu, who commanded the affairs in the CMO on behalf of the then CM YSR, had created obstacles to him and tried to suppress the files with regard to his applications for mining lease of iron ore.
According to sources, he asserted in his affidavit that Bhanu, in addition Jagan, was the reason for his files attracting dust in the office of the Principle Secretary, department of forests despite the green signal given by the district officials of the Kurnool and Ananthapuram districts.
“The officials played football with my files everywhere,” he said in his statement.
It is true that media was in the know that the word of Bhanu was being taken for the word of the then CM during those days. Political circles now feel that Bhanu mush have operated on behalf of the late YSR in giving mining leases to the now jailed Gali Janardhan reddy.
It is also true that Bhanu was appointed as the special secretary in the CMO at the behest of the then advisor to the CM Mr KVP Ramachandra Rao who also operated like an ex-officio CM by virtue of his friendship with YSR.
Mr Konda Reddy told the CBI and the magistrate that he was forced to withdraw his court case and mining applications by Jagan for favoring the OMC.
