Will CBI name Jagan as accused in illegal mining case?

CBI officials, who questioned the YSR Congress chief Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy last week in the illegal mining case as a witness, is likely to make him an accused in the case, according to media reports.

CBI grilled him during his questioning and asked him to face Mr Konda Reddy, who was sitting in the next room. The CBI officials sent Mr Konda Reddy away after Jagan told them he was not in a position to face him. “Please don’t denigrate my position by making me face him,” Jagan reportedly requested the CBI officials.

Konda reddy informed the CBI that he was forced to withdraw his high court case in favour of Gali Janardhan reddy and his OMC which was favoured by the state Government during the YSR regime for mining leases.

Leading high court lawyer Mr Raghu Nath told a Telugu daily that Konda Reddy submitted an affidavit to the magistrate and it carries weight. “As Konda Reddy’s affidavit is very important in this case, magistrate may ask the CBI to include the name of Jagan as an accused and file an FIR against him.

Media reports said Jagan also forced some more applicants to withdraw their applications for mining leases in favour of Gali Janardhan reddy. Reports suggested some top officials also were involved in such forcible withdrawals.

Now, some more applicants, who had withdrawn in favour of Gali Janardhan-owned OMC may also approach the CBI with their versions.
