After having a long overdue, finally the book has been returned to the New York Public Library after a period of 55 years.
According to the Daily News, the biography of a 16-century priest called “Fire of Francis Xavier” was checked out of the Fort Washington branch in upper Manhattan on April 10, 1958. Moreover, the Library manager Jennifer Zarr tells the newspaper that the book has finally arrived at the library on Monday having it wrapped in a plain brown envelope with a cheque for $100 to cover the dues inside.
In fact, She added on that library records don’t go back to 1958 and quite obviously there is no way to trace who actually borrowed the book moreover she wouldn’t reveal the name on the cheque.
55 years is not a joke!
