Indian Deputy Consulate General Devayani Kobragade was arrested and taken her with handcuffed to the police station. She was not given an opportunity to explain even. She was arrested when she was going to leave her daughter at her school.

Devayani took a woman from India to look after her daughter. The allegation is that the information given in the Visa about her is wrong. It is also alleged that Devayani is not paying adequate remuneration for the work taken from the woman.

It is suspected that the whole action is initiated by another NRI Prit Bharara who is working as a Federal Prosecutor in Manhattan.
