Student falls prey to perverts on university campus

In a shocking incident, which question the safety of women in Bangalore, a law student of National Law School of India University (NLSIU) was allegedly raped by a eight-member gang on Gnana Bharati campus of Bangalore University, which was adjacent to NLSIU. According to the police, the victim on Saturday night went to met her boy friend (an IT employee). She along with her boy friend stopped by the university campus and loafed around. Suddenly, she was attacked by a gang, said the victim in her complaint. The gang demanded money from them. Her boy friend reportedly said the money was in the car and the gang asked him to get the money from his vehicle. As her boy friend approached the car, he found a constable to which he informed the incident. But by the time he came back with the constable to the place, the gang fled the scene along with his girl friend, said the victim.

Victim's boy friend got a call from the victim in the mid night. She reportedly told him that the gang dropped her at the hostel after they allegedly raped her. The police said that girl underwent medical examination and reports were awaited. Meanwhile, the police were questioning her boy friend. It may be noted that earlier too a rape took place on Bangalore University campus. The government should swiftly look into the issue and arrange tight security on university campus so that such heinous crimes don't take place.
