Only a week after he was transferred from the City Police Commissioner's office, Mumbai's Top Cop Arup Patnaik had fallen a victim to heart attack and was immediately taken to the Jaslok Hospital on the Pedder Road on Wednesday morning. Patnaik is now stationed as the director general of the police. He had to undergo emergency angioplasty as treatment. Sources say that his condition is now stable.
Doctors and authorities at the hospital said that he had been admitted with a 100% blockade of the right coronary artery. A stent was added to counter the problem and he was stable for now. They added that he would be discharged within 4 days.
He had an earlier history of heart disease and had a minor attack a few years back. His status of a Top Cop for Mumbai had been eneded after he was transferred for the improper handling of the August 11 riots.
