93 killed in Iraq, deadliest day of the year yet

The continuous bombings and shootings in Iraq have made 93 people mere victims of the deadly attacks making this the deadliest day in the year so far.

The leader of al-Qaeda said that their troops are reorganizing back in the places they had to retreat from prior to the occupation of US troops who left last December.

The lack of any security with the unconditional departure of the US army had become an great advantage and the terrorist group had made no delay in “carpe diem”. The government of Iraq had also become frail and extremely weak, the Sunni rebels in Syria region adjacent to Iraq have all contributed to further instability in the country.

Though US officials and Iraqi government affirmed that the condition of the al-Qaeda is not as strong as it was before when the government could restrict them, the death toll that continues to increase every day prove otherwise.

On Monday, bombings took place in 13 cities of the country which all appear to be coordinated as there was just a few hours of gap between them. They also seemed to target the government and the security forces.

16 people were killed in one single bombing at the Interior Ministry office. The worst bombing of the day was at Taji, 20km north of the capital. Bombs were placed around 5 houses and the suicide bomber attacked the police by setting off the bombs on his body when they arrived to help. This mishap killed 41 people.

Another attack on the Iraq's military where the terrorists arrived in three cars, fully loaded, and started firing at the army base in Udaim killing 13 soldiers. The brazen soldiers also managed to escape unharmed.

The The earlier attack that was considered equally devastating was on January 5th when numerous bombings killed 78 people in Baghdad and Nasiriya.
