Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who extended her support to 76-year-old Pranab Mukherjee for the presidential election at the last moment, has congratulated Mr. Mukherjee on becoming the President of India. She has called telephoned Pranab Mukherjee and wished him.

On the other hand, the prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh personally wished Pranab Mukherjee. PM went to the residence of Pranab at Talkatora road in Delhi and congratulated him. Notably, PM's wife who accompanied Manmohan to Mukherjee's home has greeted dada.

The UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, along with her son and MP Rahul Gandhi, arrived at Pranab's residence and wished him personally. Meanwhile, Pranab Mukherjee has thanked everyone who supported him in the election. He has said that he would strive to uphold the sovereignty of the country each and every moment.
