Sheetal Kale (15) was subject to depression after her boyfriend (17) had refused to marry her and decided to end her life. She jumped from the Nalanda Skywalk at Kamraj Nagar near Eastern Express Highway and landed on the ground only to suffer fractured spine and legs.

She told the police that she and her boyfriend met in school where they studied together, but she had to give up education due to financial reasons. They both lived in the same area too. She and her boyfriend used to meet each other frequently. On Thursday, Sheetal called her boyfriend to Nalanda Nagar at 4pm and asked him if he would marry her. He said he couldnt as he was not employed and also had to ask his parents. Later he said he didn't want to continue the relationship which caused a lot of distress to Sheetal.
Soon after the boyfriend left she jumped up from the 18 foot high Nalanda Skywalk. A youngster noticed her and signalled to the nearby pedestrians for help. The crowd diverted the traffic to prevent any further accidents. She was taken in a car and admitted in the Rajawadi Hospital. They also informed the police.
Sheetal's father was a labourer working on daily wages while her mother works as a housemaid. He said, “I am shocked to see that this incident happened. we never knew that she had an affair”. She was counselled at Sion Hospital where she admitted that the suicde was a bad move and that she wouldn't repeat such an act.
